Troy Prince introduces Wall Street to talent they haven’t discovered yet

Josh here – a few months back, Troy Prince came by the office to chat informally about the not-for-profit he’s been building, Wall Street Bound. As someone who had spent years as a trader for some of the largest firms in the world, Troy understood better than most how difficult it is for people from where he grew up to gain entrance to this world.

Troy is now on a mission to change that and open up the entrance wider. He believes that there is a lot of talent in neighborhoods like the Bronx and Brooklyn, among college students of color, who simply don’t have the family connections or institutional understanding to land these interviews, let alone get the jobs.Troy’s new bootcamp for Wall Street Bound students of color is a great way to help. He is looking for mentorship from professionals as well as financial support from people who think this is a good cause.

So, to coincide with his new fundraising campaign, I checked in with Troy last week and we taped this conversation.

This week he announced a joint venture for trading opportunities, press release here.

I will be working with him on the wealth management side, given that less than 7% of all US financial advisors are black, and only 1.5% of Certified Financial Planners.

A lot of people say they want to see change, and more equality of opportunity. Troy is someone who is actually doing something about it. Check out the links below for how you can get involved and support his cause…
