Like most of you, I’ve taken Roger Ebert mostly for granted – that guy who does the thumbs-up and thumbs-down movie reviews on Sunday afternoon television? – but in the wake of his death this week at 70 years old, it is becoming apparent to me that we’ve truly lost an amazing writer and chronicler of our culture.
