Johnny Marr, one of the driving forces behind early 80’s proto-alt rock band The Smiths is back with a solo record that totally rocks. Called ‘The Messenger’, the album delivers track after consistent track Marr’s signature brand of jangly-guitar pop-rock, the kind that R.E.M. has done so effortlessly for us in since the demise of The Smiths so long ago.
The record is great, Marr is like 50 years old but hasn’t missed a step – keep in mind that he was Jack White before Jack White was even born.
