RIP Prince

The tweet came from TMZ, of all places. A fatality at Paisley Park. Shortly after, confirmation that it’s Prince who passed, at 57 years old.

For my generation, his music was part of the soundtrack of life. I’m not going to say anything else. The obit machinery is already cranking up and the outpouring of love and remembrance will be epic. This is a big one.

Just to give you a sense of the level of musicianship we’re talking about here, a clip of Prince just absolutely shredding a George Harrison guitar solo with the supergroup that performed during the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Even on a stage with legends, his virtuosity stands out.
