What can a lifelong New Yorker say about George Steinbrenner other than the fact that he may have been the greatest sports franchise owner we’ve ever had.  Winning mattered more to him than anything and boy, did he bring home wins for our city.  George was the consummate businessman, making the best possible deals and focusing on the final product.  He was passionate sometimes to the point of belligerence, but the ends always justified the means for the fortunate fans of the Yankees.
