David Rubenstein is the co-founder of private equity goliath the Carlyle Group. In his introduction of Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos last night, he says “we announced that you were coming to speak here in May, your stock price is up by about $250 billion since…do you attribute some of that to the knowledge that some people think you’re so smart as to come here that you must be really good at running your company?”

Without missing a beat, Jeff quips “It’s clearly completely causal.”
