Living that Coin Lyfe

Two things –

I’ve agreed to an advisory board role with my friend Mike Alfred’s new venture, a data startup in a similar vein to his last company, Brightscope, which I also advised for and was acquired a couple of years ago. The new business doesn’t have a trade name yet but I will be co-investing alongside Brevan Howard founder Alan Howard and former LPL CEO Mark Casady. It’s early, early days but Mike has a belief that as the crypto landscape becomes more legitimate, investors are going to need a data source they can trust, not just some kid with a laptop printing prices and linking to white papers. It’s an exciting idea and I can’t wait to talk more about it in the coming months.

My friend Paul Vigna (Wall Street Journal) is launching his new book on the blockchain, called The Truth Machine. It’s about how currency may be just the starting point of what the blockchain does to change the world. At the event, being held at the Museum of American Finance in downtown NYC, I’ll be on panel discussing all things crypto with Tyler and Cameron Winkelvoss and Paul. You can come out for that, register at the link below!
