Just kidding, I never made it to London.
American Airlines put us through hell last night. They boarded us in New York at 5:40 pm, I was already a refugee from another canceled flight.
Then we left the gate and the pilot said we were in a queue to have our wings de-iced.
Then they said were missing a part and they were searching for it in the airport, so back to the gate.
Then they said they found it and were installing it.
Then they started passing out bags of chips.
Then they said it would be another hour for an inspection of the new part.
Then, at 10pm – almost five hours after we had gotten on the plane – they said “Okay, this flight’s canceled.” People were fucking livid.
I was mad also but too tired to help my fellow passengers dismantle and then tip over the plane. Made the fatal mistake of taking a sleeping pill before takeoff. I Ubered home and still don’t have my luggage as of this writing. It’s somewhere at either JFK or maybe in Western Africa. Guess I’ll find out later.
Anyway, I will not be able to get to the UK in time for my presentation. The conference organizers were really cool about this and understanding, so maybe next year.
Business as usual for me today. More later…
