Everyone is obsessed with the Candy Crush Saga

I admit, I’m addicted. Worse than I was with the Angry Birds in 2010.

And my kids are into it and now even my wife has gotten into it – and she doesn’t even do Facebook or Twitter, so I have no idea how she got infected. She’s usually so…well, sensible! Not anymore, it’s all Candy Crush, all day.

We’re not alone.

Here’s Slate on the phenomenon:

I’m not alone in my addiction. About 45 million people play Candy Crush on Facebook each month, making it the most popular game on the site. It’s the most downloaded mobile game on both Android and Apple devices, and it’s the top-grossing mobile app. Think Gaming estimates that Candy Crush brings in around $633,000 a day—more than $230 million a year—for King, its British creator.

Speaking of King, it is “planning to file for an IPO, according to the Wall Street Journal. The company has hired J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Credit Suisse Group AG, and Bank of America Corp., to handle the potential offering.”
