The Christmas Price Index for 2012 (or Swans be Mad Volatile, Yo)

PNC Bank economists have been tracking the costs of all the items in the ’12 days of Christmas’ song since 1984. This year, their Christmas Price Index jumped by 4.8% thanks to the crazy volatility in swans (up 11.1% YTD! And we need seven of them!) and the overall cost in birdfeed. The slight improvement in the economy didn’t hurt, either.

To buy all of the items listed in the song, you’d spend $25,431.18, or $40,440 if you chose to shop online (a relatively new thing they’re tracking).
