60% of Hedge Funds Lost Money in 2011 – HFI

This is an incredible stat – hedge funds, as an asset class , were the big losers of last year’s volatile market.  Which is all f***ed up when you consider the fact that standing tall amidst volatility is exactly how they sell themselves to investors.

The Hedge Fund Intelligence Database has gotten year-end numbers in from about a third of the hedge funds they cover, they say so far about 60% are reporting losses for 2011.  Obviously they need to start reading my friends All Star Charts, Peter Brandt and Stock Sage, duh!
