Saturday Night Video: Jeter's 3000th Hit is a Homerun

One of the greatest all-around baseball players of our lifetime, Derek Jeter, cranked his 3000th hit this afternoon in grand style – with a homerun.

This milestone is not only special to Yankee fans, but to athletes all over the world.  Jeter is a drug-free, non-thug, Class Act who doesn’t beat his wife or take performance-enhancing steroids or undergo mysterious “blood treatments” in Costa Rica.  He pays his taxes, shows up for practice and never says a disparaging word in public about his team, his teammates or the organization, even when they jerked him around during his last contract negotiations.

Congrats to Derek, it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.

Here’s some more color on the historic shot from the New York Times
