The S&P/Goldman Sachs GSCI index (24 commodities) has just outperformed both stocks and bonds for 5 straight months, a feat that hasn’t been achieved in 14 years. Headed into the summer and the end of QE2, I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to be deploying more capital to the commodity space right now. In fact, some of the smartest guys in the room are exiting the trade (Burbank, Soros et al).
I went on CNBC today with the message that there are better places to be for the summer and that recent highs in silver, oil and copper will now serve as resistance. I’ll get more excited about hard asset plays in the August – October time frame I suppose.
Video below, enjoy!
