Conservatives and Liberals Have Different Brains

I’m post-political; It only took me 31 years to realize they’re all full of ***.  I love people, hate them in groups though, especially political groups.

Because this is the case, the below snippet from GOOD magazine is hilarious to me.  It will probably piss a lot of people off.  I like that, too.

A study from University College London published this week in Current Biology has discovered that there are actually differences in the brains of liberals and conservatives. Specifically, liberals’ brains tend to be bigger in the area that deals with processing complex ideas and situations, while conservatives’ brains are bigger in the area that processes fear.

According to the report: “We found that greater liberalism was associated with increased gray matter volume in the anterior cingulate cortex, whereas greater conservatism was associated with increased volume of the right amygdala.”

Not sure where that leaves me and my brain.  I’m socially kind of liberal but more of a conservative on defense and fiscal stuff.  I have some pretty strongly held beliefs and some that just aren’t fully formed yet – but I know for a fact that I don’t ever want to be labeled as either a liberal or a conservative.  Would love to see what the shape of brain says…
