We Gotta Get Out Of This Place

Does it ever end?

When I look back on the last 14 years I’ve spent playing Gotcha Last with this market, each 2 or 3 year period seems to fit neatly into its own little era.  Until you come to 2007 – ?, aka The Neverending Story.  The last 4 years of this market era feel like one long narrative with an infinite amount of chapters added on just when you think there might be an end or resolution in sight.

Seriously, a 4 year housing bubble has to exact a 20 year punishment on the entire world?  Is it ever enough?  I know, I know – the policy responses are extending the unshakable misery.  Fine.  But forever?  And ever?

And stop talking about my grandkids and how horrible their lives will be.  They will look back on your anachronistic opinions 20 years from now and sneer as they speed away in their flying cars.  They will picture you and your stupid iPhone and your stupid apps making judgments about “their burden” and they will howl with laughter as they “accidentally” slip you the wrong medicine just to see what color it changes your old pupils.

This too shall pass?  OK.  But, like, when?  I’m ready to move on to the next era, are you?

We gotta get out of this place.
