Transocean Rig Accident Leaking 1000 Barrels of Oil a Day

Every once in a while, we get a reminder of how dirty and dangerous the business of energy production can be.  Recently, a coal mine in West Virginia owned by Massey Energy ($MEE) caved in leading to injuries and 29 casualties.

And then there is the developing environmental disaster happening right now in the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of last week’s Transocean ($RIG) accident, in which a drilling platform exploded.

According to CBS News, a pipe from the oil well in the ocean floor is leaking 1000 barrels worth a day…
