America's Most Miserable Cities in Forbes

Miami, 9th Most Miserable?

Miami, 9th Most Miserable?

More depression porn…Forbes has a funny-sad slide show up of America’s Most Miserable Cities (yes, I know they all are miserable right now) and the list will not surprise you.

Flint, Michigan is, as usual, right in the mix.  The city that gave rise to the comic stylings of docu-slanderer Michael Moore and became a poster child for devastated communities is showing the new crop of decaying towns how it’s done.  30 years of hardship and counting, Flint…Rock and Roll!

Miami makes an appearance as both the epicenter of the real estate and mortgage meltdown and a high crime city.

Cleveland is up there as well, because…well, because it’s Cleveland (interestingly, the second highest snowfall after Denver of any major city with over 50 inches annually).

Then there’s Detroit, which, besides Flint, is Michigan’s other Utopia.  Forbes even throws the “win-less Lions” into the equation, as if that’s even on the top ten list of Detroit’s problems.

Chicago gets taken down a few post-election pegs because of its unemployment rate and killer 10%-plus sales tax and Stockton, California apparently has a population with only 15% of adults having college degrees.

Worth a read, if only to make yourself feel better about whatever skyline you’re looking out at right now.  And if Wall Street continues to lay off staff and cut spending at this pace, don’t fall out of your chair if New York City makes this list next year.
