I’m back and just in time, it would appear.
After a relatively benign winter for US stocks and everybody’s favorite commodity vehicles, the going has begun to get tough. As much as I would love to take the next couple of paragraphs allotted to me to talk about my new favorite Cloud names or some of these facacta Nanotech stocks I’ve been putzing around with, I think it would be better to talk risk for a moment.
There are several new developments that give me the shpilkis, I may need an antihistamine or possibly a topical analgesic.
Anyway, some things that make me go Oy!
1. The big brokerage analysts are “locking it in”. Goldman’s been dialing back GDP expectations for H2 and now Morgan Stanley is hopping on (or off) the bandwagon as well. These aren’t schmucks, we’re talking Hatzius and now Greenlaw getting bearish. Oy!
2. The Shicksa Indicator is flashing red anytime a bigtime, high profile goyim anchorette moves from one business network to another. This makes me nervous, the gorgeous gentile ladies always know something ahead of the rest of us; who could resist but to spill all of their secrets to an Erin Burnett or a Trish Regan? Erin’s leaving CNBC bodes ill for all of us until her replacement is named and that replacement MUST be goyish! The good news is that many of the leading candidates can restore my confidence in this matter, but still…Oy gevolt!
3. What if the CME or the NYSE for that matter decide to impose higher margin rates on other risk assets? When they came for Silver, I remained silent. When they came for copper and timber, I said nothing. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak on my behalf. OK, this may be a bit melodramatic, but if they start breaking the specs in my oil names, Oy Vey!
Anyway, three items to keep an eye on. There are others, but what am I gonna do. I have a flare up in my allergies and it’s bring your pet kitty cat to the temple’s rec center today. I’d complain, but who’d listen?
