The Riskalyze Report: Advisors ♥ Small Caps

At the request of so many investment advisors, my friends at Riskalyze share the big trends in the assets going into and coming out of advisor portfolios every week. The underlying data is aggregated from hundreds of thousands of client accounts across the $120 billion and counting that advisors manage on the Riskalyze platform*. I hope we can uncover interesting trends for you each week…

Riskalyze

November 8th – November 14th

Winners (advisor flows TO these investments increased substantially):
  1. Russell 1000 (IWF, VB, IJR)
  2. iShares MSCI USA Minimum Volatility (USMV)
  3. Financials (XLF)

Losers (advisor flows FROM these investments increased substantially):

  1. Intermediate US Gov Bond 7-10 year (IEF)
  2. Franklin Income Fund (FKINX)
  3. Gold and Permanent Portfolio (GLD, PRPFX)

Josh here – large cap funds with Russell 1000 exposure got some love last week, as did the leading financial stock ETF (XLF). Intermediate term bonds got the ax across the advisor portfolios tracked on the Riskalyze platform. Gold continues to be for sale, pretty much at any level given the metal’s selloff last week.

Riskalyze CIO Mike McDaniel informs me that most of the interesting action took place outside of the top three winners and losers, however. “Three small cap investments in the top 8 winners list (IWF, V, IJR). High yield was peppered throughout the loser list (of which FKINX has exposure), just not the top of the list.”
