Please Take Time Out for Oklahoma Today

What we know so far is that 51 people are confirmed dead from yesterday’s devastating tornado, 20 of whom are children. People have lost fathers, mothers, sons and daughters – one minute they were there and a minute later they were gone.

The miles and miles of destroyed homes and the devastation you’re seeing on your TV screen will still be there long after the cameras are turned off. Having watched my own community rebuild this year after Hurricane Sandy, I can tell you that it’s a long and painful process that doesn’t end just because the news cycle has moved on.

There are two ways you can help these people – many of whom have lost their possessions and places of business, some of whom are now mourning lost friends and family members:

Text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief

Or donate to the Red Cross online here

Or donate by phone at 1-800-RED CROSS

The Salvation Army is also on the ground feeding people and providing clothing for those who’ve lost everything.  Donate online or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts or make a donation by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY
