Newsweek’s cover story right now is, believe it or not, an Obamaconomy hit piece by partisan historian Niall Ferguson. Ferguson goes point by point on the various promises and initiatives of the Obama administration and concludes that it’s time for the Prez to admit failure and “hit the road.”
Niall is a brilliant historian and wrote one of my favorite books on economic history, The Ascent of Money. But he has been a very flawed forecaster and is a blatant Republican partisan (he’s been supporting Romney openly and worked for the McCain campaign).
Anyway, here is the article everyone is buzzing about and below it is a link to Joe Weisenthal’s attempt to keep Ferguson honest re: his own deeply flawed economic prediction record. And of course, Paul Krugman goes in on it, specifically a misleading argument about health care.
