A Few Things About Howard Lindzon…

Today is Howard Lindzon‘s birthday.  I think he’s 61 or something.  Either way, I wanted to jot down a few things about the Blogfather…

Howard knows everyone, he’s one of the most connected guys in media, venture, tech and finance in the country.  More importantly, he connects people with other people and makes things happen.

People who do business with Howard feel like they are doing business with a friend, which makes doing business enjoyable and exciting even when the chips are down.

Howard was one of the first guys to make the connection between finance and funny – I still remember watching the Wall Strip videos as the market was peaking in 2007 – everyone on The Street was taking themselves really seriously and Howard went the other way.  And we know how things ended for those who couldn’t see the ridiculousness of it all.

Howard leads with his sense of humor, but he is smarter about trends and growth investing than anyone else I know.  He chides himself for passing on Facebook or whatever but the list of big winning stocks he’s been early on and tenacious about is insane – $AMZN, $AAPL, $LULU, $SLW, $CMG, $FOSL and on and on.  When he gets excited about a stock, you probably want to take a look and try to see what he’s seeing.

Lastly, Howard gets it.  He knows where all of this stuff is headed – the blogs, the tweeting, the media, the markets.  I joined StockTwits as a user in the summer of 2008 having met Howard and Phil at a loft party in the very early days.  The doors that have been opened for me and the contacts and friends I’ve made ever since are too numerous to count.  And I know I speak for a lot of guys.

So happy birthday Howard, I’m proud of what we’ve all built together and I’m glad to be your friend.
