June in the Books, Daddy's Back etc

Microphone check, one two one two…

How’s everyone doing out there?  I’m back after a week off slaving away on the book.  Compared to writing in that format, the blog is a dream.

Let’s have a look at the month that was:

Stocks finish June 2011 down 2% overall.

The Dow dropped 1.2% this month, the S&P 1.8% and the NASDAQ was off 2.2%.

The only index to squeak by with a gain for Q2 was the Dow Jones Industrial Average (0.8%).

I gained six pounds of writer-blubber, mostly under my chin and around my lower back.

The Dow is also leading on a year-to-date basis, up 7.2%

The S&P 500 is up 5% YTD.

The Nazz trails with only a 4.6% gain.  Blame Apple ($AAPL), it’s had its worst first half in 3 years.

This week’s four day rally (Dow up 500 points!) puts us on pace for the best market week in almost a year.

Anyway, I joined this Google+ thing this week.  I have five friends in my “circle” so far.  I have no idea what it is, seems like some sort of private Twitter.  If you’re on there look for me and we can “circle each other” or whatever they’re going to call it.

Alright, back to work.  I plan to demolish the month of July here on TRB so stick around.
