American Earnings Power

Rewind back to the Fall of 2010 in your minds, what do you hear and see?

Why, it’s a cavalcade of talking heads preaching the gospel of overseas investing and Emerging Markets as the universal answer to all of your portfolio’s ills.

Only it didn’t work out that way.  I should say, they only had it half right:  Emerging markets and Overseas have been phenomenal…for the Great American companies selling into them.

Here’s Ford Motors ($F) turning in its best earnings quarter since 1998:  (CNNMoney)

Here’s Hershey ($HSY) ripping through to a new high, putting up big profit numbers this morning despite all the fretting about input costs:  (MarketWatch)

I could do a laundry list of these stories but there’s too much for you and I to be doing here in the tape on days like today.  The American Tape.
