Proof that the Yokels are Back in the Market

Yahoo Finance Message Boards

Anyone who needs proof that the knuckleheads and amateurs have returned to this stock market in full force need look no further than Wall Street’s official retard watering hole, the Yahoo Finance Message Boards.

It’s not that there’s nothing at all worthwhile ever on the boards there…it’s just that sometimes it feels that way.  Especially on the sub-$5 stock threads.

Here’s some of the local flavor you can expect during your next visit over yonder:

1.  For those who enjoy following/ discussing stocks with a bit of intrigue attached, I recommend heading over to the SPNGE board for the lowdown on penny stock pump-and-dump object SpongeTech, a company so riddled with fraud allegations that only the masochists and the truly demented have real money on the line.  Check out this appropriately-titled thread:

Balls of Steel Check-In

2.  Here’s a trailer park trading classic:  This thread, started on the SIRI board in November of 2007 and still running, is a list of price predictions from a group of frequent Sirius Radio posters who call themselves…wait for it…The Real Men Of Genus (sic) Club.  The Genuses have updated their erudite takes on SIRI 267 times so far.

3.  Here’s a group of winners, let’s see…we have an ex-Lehman Brothers analyst pumping shares of UYG (Ultra Long Financials ETF), followed by incredibly well-reasoned bearish arguments from Gus Roca, who apparently has a broken all caps button, and an 18 year old female who calls herself “Warren Buffett” based in Denver.  Class all around.

4.  How about this gem from the Citigroup (C) board from an investor/ suicide enthusiast who has probably come up with the most bizarre off topic wager I’ve ever read on a stock thread.  Extra points for spelling like he’s wearing a helmet, by the way.

Once again, the marginal retail speculators have followed the trail of explosive moves in low quality stocks back to this market.  Your evidence can be found on the Yahoo Finance boards pretty much around the clock.

No disrespect meant to those who actually attempt to have a civil, enlightening discourse on the Yahoo boards…but unfortunately, you may as well be reciting Walt Whitman verses at the Daytona 500.

Feel free to send me some of your favorite proof-of-stupidity message board threads and I’ll highlight them in future posts.
